Which Route
A common misconception is that there is only one Camino de Santiago. In fact there are 12 Caminos that converge at Santiago de Compostela. All have recognised historical significance and have been followed by pilgrims since the Middle Ages.
The vast majority of pilgrims (63%) follow the Camino Francés and aside from the Camino Portugués, Camino Inglés and Camino Finisterre, the 8 other routes all merge into the Camino Francés before arriving at Santiago.
The map below shows all 12 routes as they pass through France, Spain and Portugal.
